Mount Pleasant Library & Active Living Center and Virginia Foil Park

To help accommodate increased needs for library, wellness, and athletic programs, Cabarrus County built a 30-acre complex that includes a 20,921-square-foot library and active living center, park, and associated infrastructure and parking.

The library and active living center, which includes a multipurpose room for large events and a fitness room, is steel-framed with shallow foundations and slab-on-grade floors. The park features three softball fields, two soccer fields, playground, walking/fitness trails, restrooms, concession stand, and support buildings constructed of concrete masonry units with shallow foundations and slab-on-grade floors. Several retaining walls were also constructed on site.

For these projects, ESP provided construction materials testing and special inspections, including subgrade evaluations, field density testing, retaining wall testing and inspection, foundation bearing materials evaluation, reinforcing steel inspections, concrete testing, masonry testing and inspections, and structural steel inspection.

Due to a fast-paced schedule and multiple trades working at the same time, our team provided multiple field staff for testing and inspection to help keep the project moving forward on schedule.
