T-SAPP Earns a 2027 ACEC/NC “Grand” Award!

We’re honored to share that ESP received a 2027 Grand Award at the ACEC North Carolina Engineering Excellence Awards for our work on NCDOT’s Transportation Surge Analysis Prediction Program (T-SAPP)!

Proud to recognize Matt Dudley, Sarah Bell, Libby Dugan, and David Key for their contributions to this award-winning project. Through their efforts, our team expanded T-SAPP’s capabilities to help emergency managers understand not only where roads and bridges may flood during coastal storms, but when, providing more timely, actionable insights to support critical decisions as storms unfold.

During the awards, David Key reflected on the events that helped shape this work, noting that, “10 years ago tonight, we were one day away from Hurricane Matthew making landfall in the Carolinas. And as we remember the devastation that Matthew caused in eastern NC, we also remember that Matthew (2016) and Florence (2018) formed the nexus of events to foster the vision and create the tools and datasets we now have in North Carolina.  I can only image that our response today, having these data and tools would have made a difference.”

Thank you to ACEC/NC for this recognition, to our partners at NCDOT for their collaboration, and to our team for their dedication to this important work. It was a privilege to celebrate alongside so many outstanding projects at the Engineering Excellence Awards Gala on October 7th.
