ESP’s San Antonio office (formerly Vickrey & Associates, LLC) served as the prime firm for Phases I and II of the VIA Stone Oak Park & Ride facility, which expanded local bus routes as well as express service north into downtown San Antonio.
For Phase I, our team prepared schematic design layouts and a preliminary engineering plan, which included a modular shade structure, water quality pond, 160-space TAS/ADA-compliant parking lot, and separate bus and passenger vehicle circulation. We also prepared construction documents and CSI specifications, performed subdivision platting for an amending plat, assisted with building permits and a Utility Service Agreement request, and provided project management. Surveying services included an ALTA survey and a tree and topographic survey.
For Phase II, our team provided civil site design, which included a four-level, 350-space parking garage. The initial concept for Phase II was to design a 200-space parking garage adjacent to the 160-space parking lot from Phase I. However, the project was re-envisioned to remove the parking lot and incorporate the space into a larger parking garage. Consequently, our team revised the site plans to accommodate this larger footprint as well as the water quality pond design due to its proximity to the parking garage. When VIA decided to develop the facility as a Design-Build contract, we also provided 30% bridging documents to be utilized as conceptual plans for the design-build contractor.
The ESP team also prepared a Water Pollution Abatement Plan (WPAP) and TCEQ permitting for WPAP approval during both phases.
