US 181 Harbor Bridge Replacement

As the longest cable-stayed, concrete segmental bridge in North America, the new US 181 Harbor Bridge will include increased navigational clearance for larger ships at the Port of Corpus Christi, pedestrian and bicycle access, and an observational area. For even greater connectivity, this bridge project also includes route realignment to create a diamond interchange.

Since January 2016, CivilCorp, an ESP Company, has handled all preliminary engineering and surveying and continues to provide design surveying support for replacement of the existing bridge and reconstruction of portions of US 181, I-37, and the Crosstown Expressway, totaling 6.44 miles of new construction and 2.6 miles of reconstruction.

Scope has included the establishment and verification of all primary project controls, graphics verification, right-of-way surveying and mapping, and preliminary design surveying, including drainage, utility, and geotechnical surveying. We also provided surveying in support of the subsurface utility engineering (SUE) for Quality Level A & B.

With 95% of the right-of-way mapping and all other project deliverables complete, our team will perform parcel surveys as new ROW is needed throughout the design-build process. We are proud to support such an important project that will provide safer transportation for our fellow Texans.
