ESP’s geospatial team partnered with American Structurepoint, Inc. to complete a full mobile lidar and topographic survey in support of a sewer rehabilitation and design project that will upgrade the city’s existing sanitary sewer and storm drainage capabilities, including the elimination of combined sewer overflows to comply with the city’s long-term control plan and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency requirements. With nearly 6.5 miles of city streets to survey for design needs, American Structurepoint elected an innovative hybrid approach in which they performed ground survey while ESP provided mobile mapping data collection, extraction, and basemap processing.
Using advanced mobile lidar technology, ESP efficiently captured high-density, high-accuracy spatial data, minimizing field time and maximizing detail in complex environments. The result is a comprehensive topographic dataset tailored to the precision and performance standards that civil engineers require. This survey data plays a critical role in the engineering design of a new sanitary infrastructure system, providing a reliable foundation for modeling, drainage analysis, and utility planning. As a multi-stage infrastructure project, the initial phase was completed in Summer 2024, and the second phase is scheduled to begin in Summer 2025. ESP is proud to have been selected to work alongside American Structurepoint—a continued partnership built on technical excellence, trust, and shared commitment to community-driven solutions.
