Ditesco, an ESP company, was hired by the City of Fort Collins to design a full-scale renovation of Linden Street from Walnut Street to Jefferson Street. The goal of the project was to create a convertible street that could be closed to accommodate a wide range of events. Our team provided a multitude of services, including engineering design, utility engineering and drainage design, extensive public/stakeholder outreach, project management, and construction management.
As part of this coordination, we developed plans to ensure all businesses in the area were able to remain open with pedestrian access during construction. Prior to design, our team managed a utility potholing effort and performed a subsurface utility engineering study as a basis of design. We also developed a communications and outreach plan to engage stakeholders, managed a thorough stakeholder engagement process, assessed historical context of design concepts, and prepared a submittal to the Landmark Preservation Commission.
Our team developed complete design drawings, including site layout, demolition, site plans, paving plans, grading plans, roadway plan and profile, curb and gutter plan and profile, and CSI formatted technical specifications. We also coordinated with CDOT Region 4, City of Fort Collins Traffic, and City of Fort Collins Engineering to implement an interim plan on Jefferson Street. The interim plan included restriping efforts to reduce the southeast bound travel lane to one-lane and shorten the crossing distance on Linden Street across Jefferson Street.
A phased approach was implemented during construction to minimize disruption to local businesses. As the construction manager for Phases 1 and 2 of the renovation, Ditesco ensured the design intent and project goals were maintained throughout construction. This hands-on oversight allowed us to make real-time field modifications to address existing conditions while keeping the project on schedule and within budget.
