During implementation of their new Micro Paver 7.0 pavement management system, the City of Columbia requested a pavement and asset inventory for 350+ lane miles of city-maintained roadway, including sidewalks, ADA ramps, striping, and pavement markings.
Using our IrisPRO Pave multi-sensor van and Trimble MX9 mobile mapping system, ESP performed comprehensive data collection of pavement and asset data within a single mobilization and calibrated with previous ratings obtained from a city-conducted visual inspection. A complete Pavement Condition Index (PCI) report was then provided for input into Micro Paver 7.0, enabling the City to take full advantage of the benefits, principles, and techniques of a professionally managed pavement program.
In addition to maintaining and extending the life of pavement surfaces, this foundation of accurate and precise data allows the City to mine additional asset and survey-quality data for years to come. Potential uses include sign inventory, curb and gutter inventory, and ADA ramp evaluation.
