Ditesco, an ESP company, partnered with the Southern Colorado Economic Development District (SCEDD) to develop a Broadband Implementation Blueprint aimed at expanding high-speed broadband access across 13 counties in Southeast Colorado through the development of middle-mile fiber infrastructure. The effort involved a comprehensive gap analysis of existing broadband coverage to identify regional needs; stakeholder engagement and consensus-building with counties, towns, cities, and local internet service providers (ISPs); the creation of high-level fiber designs to guide future projects; and the development of funding plans and grant applications.
With the blueprint complete, our team is supporting SCEDD with plan implementation. We continue to leverage ArcGIS and federal and state datasets to identify underserved areas, develop targeted projects and funding plans, foster regional partnerships with local governments and ISPs, coordinate grant applications, and provide high-level fiber design.
Utilizing partnerships between SCEDD and local ISPs, our team developed applications for the American Rescue Plan Capital Projects Fund (CPF) grant program. These grant applications secured over $26 million in CPF funds, which accounted for 23% of the funds awarded in Colorado through the CPF grant program.
