Matagorda Spiral Bridge

CivilCorp, an ESP company, provided Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) services for the new $41M corkscrew bridge on FM 457 over the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway. Replacing an old swing bridge, this unique 2,365-foot structure has 43 bents, steel pipe piling footings, precast caps, flat slab approaches, and a 680-foot main span with precast post-tensioned concrete spliced girders.

Our team played a critical role in communication and coordination with all stakeholders, including the contractor, engineer, architect, TxDOT Bridge Division, Army Corps of Engineers, and US Coast Guard. Managing this IDIQ project from preconstruction meeting and development of LOE to final closeout and as-builts, we led and organized the CEI team to ensure adherence to the project-specific management plan, with special emphasis on safety, risk management, environmental constraints, and quality.
