Bexar County’s first-ever historical park opened in 2019, allowing visitors to safely explore the reinforced ruins of the Hot Wells Hotel & Spa’s bathhouse. This four-acre park serves as a direct connection to the nearby neighborhood and the UNESCO World Heritage site at the San Antonio Missions. It also includes a new multipurpose park with outdoor demonstration gardens, a public restroom, connection to the San Antonio River Trails system, a public roadway-rail crossing, and visitor parking.
ESP’s San Antonio office (formerly Vickrey & Associates, LLC) provided civil engineering services for the design and improvement of trails, sidewalks, drives, and parking areas. These services included schematic design updates for all phases, construction documents for phase one, a Union Pacific Railroad crossing agreement, and UPRR utility encroachment permits. This included enhancements to the at-grade rail crossing, extension of new water and sanitary sewer services, a public road extension, and low-impact development (LID) design for on-site stormwater controls.
Our team also provided land surveying services, including conducting planimetric, topographic, and tree surveys to accurately document existing conditions and manage subdivision platting.
